byok (bring your own key) means you supply your own deepseek api key. deepstrain never stores or proxies your key through our servers — it goes directly from your machine to deepseek. this preserves privacy and gives you full cost control.
after purchase you receive a license key. run `deepstrain activate YOUR_KEY` — the cli sends a cryptographic challenge to our vercel edge, receives a signed token, and caches it locally. subsequent runs verify the token offline via hmac-sha256.
yes. after the initial activation, deepstrain works completely offline. the signed token is cached locally and verified without a network connection. internet is only needed for periodic license renewal checks.
you get a 7-day grace period where deepstrain continues to work normally. after that the license check will fail and you'll need to renew. your api key and config remain intact — just renew and run `deepstrain activate` again.
yes, you can switch between monthly, quarterly, 6-month and yearly at any time. longer plans lock in a lower rate and are billed upfront. if you switch mid-cycle, the remaining days are credited toward your new plan.
